Georgia Governor Brian Kemp recently released a comprehensive legal system abuse reform package (SB 68 and SB 69) that would help level the playing field in our courtrooms, ban hostile foreign powers from taking advantage of consumers in legal proceedings, aim to stabilize insurance costs for businesses and consumers, increase transparency and fairness, and ensure Georgia continues to be the best place to live, work, and raise a family.
The time for legal system abuse reform in Georgia is now and we need you! Call on your state lawmakers to pass Governor Kemp’s legal system abuse reform legislative package.
By flooding our courts with litigation and using tactics designed to inflate damages, legal system abuse increases costs for all Georgians, threatens local businesses and responsible business owners, hurts our state’s economy, and drives up insurance costs.
Data from the Georgia Department of Insurance (DOI) shows attorney involvement in auto insurance claims has grown significantly, which is a key driver of higher claims costs. Not only is attorney involvement in auto insurance claims rising – including efforts to artificially inflate medical expenses – but there is also an increase in the number of insurance claims being filed in recent years and the cost of those claims is going up.
Governor Kemp’s legal system abuse reform package represents the most comprehensive reform attempt by state lawmakers in the past two decades, and all Georgians would likely benefit from his comprehensive solution. Help us ensure this legislation passes by speaking out in support of SB 68 and SB 69 today!
Thank you for taking action on this critical issue.
